Dr. David G. Heidemann
A native of Detroit, Dr. Heidemann graduated from Wayne State University, where, with High Honors, he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He earned his medical degree with Distinction
from Wayne State University in 1982. After completing his ophthalmology residency at University of Michigan's Kellogg Eye Center, he served a fellowship in Corneal and External Disease at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami.
Dr. Heidemann returned to Southeast Michigan on completing his fellowship training. Here he helped to establish the Michigan Cornea Consultants, a strongly academic and patient-oriented ophthalmic subspecialty practice.
Dr. Heidemann has made national presentations and authored many research and review articles in ophthalmic journals on the diagnosis, treatment and surgery of various corneal and external disease problems. He is a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan and the Detroit Osteopathic Ophthalmology Residency Program. Dr. Heidemann is involved in a number of national multi-centered studies looking at new ways to diagnose and treat corneal and external diseases.
